Zac and his wife, Katherine, came to Indian Pass for the first time in August of 2020 to meet the owners of the Turtle Beach Inn. The Inn was for sale and Trish Petrie, who built the Inn in 1997, wanted to know if the Rolands were the right fit to continue her work.
That visit went beautifully and the Rolands moved to Indian Pass to begin a new life in November of that year.
On that first, fateful visit though, Zac and Katherine paddled over to St. Vincent Island to explore the magical place. Since then, Zac and Katherine have grown to love this community and its natural beauty.
Besides continuing to explore St. Vincent NWR on his own, Zac got involved with the Friends Group by leading walking tours and wagon tours. He also volunteered directly with the refuge by helping with hunts, clean-ups, wolf tracking, and now sea turtle nesting.
In January, he agreed to serve on the board and is very excited about this opportunity!
