Back to Board of Directors

Jim Floyd

Treasurer

Jim Floyd was raised near the Shenandoah Valley and spent his early years roaming the woods, fields, and streams of eastern West Virginia. He pursued his passion for the outdoors and graduated from Clemson University with a BS in Forest Management. After a 40-year career, he and his wife, Shawn, retired to The Forgotten Coast, where he joined the board of Friends of SVNWR in 2016. He has spent many hours on the island working with Bradley Smith, the island biologist. One of their projects was conducting a large tree survey, and he and Bradley listed the third-largest slash pine (pictured) in the state of Florida in the Florida Big Tree Register. He and Shawn have since moved to the mountains near Asheville, NC, where he is a Blue Ridge Naturalist and vice chair of the NC Arboretum Society board of directors.
